I've been with this community through three sites now, and I've started to notice a trend. The moderators are generally all selected by the site creator/whoever has owner privileges. I was thinking because of the small size of our community that we could start a democratic process for the selection of moderators and the running of the site. I know that the owner of the site does have last word, but I do feel that our community has been around long enough and migrated so often, that the neko neko community is a gift to the website. As such, I feel that we should be allowed our own voices in a forum that many of us visit every day.
Remember that I'm not trashing the system we have or calling for a mutiny, just trying to improve our experiences by reviewing them.
Well there hasn't been any problem in such a long while.. I kinda don't see the point in moderation for the time being.. Also democratic precess usualy turn into popularity contest.
Yeah, I guess we don't need it. But why wait until we do?
And the owner picking moderators wasn't based on who he liked? The democratic process isn't supposed to be some be all and end all when it comes to making descisions. It's better because then everyone is making a descision vs. one person.
Silver wouldn't pick someone solely on friendship, and popularity. And though you think my opinion is biased, I'm trying to convey the fact that I believe who ever he chooses is for a good reason, and I respect his decision and choices. Even if it was to make me no longer a mod. I wouldn't question it. Who ever he picks has the right amount of thought process in it. I know I'm not everyone's favorite person and lately I've been busy with college, but I still believe our community is small enough, do we really need another mod (I still count Toxic as one)? Especially if it is nothing but us voting, we will turn into American politics, either split and hating the other person's opinion or in the middle not giving a crap, and half of us very unhappy about the out come.

Honestly though, I don't see where you guys think the process is going to get screwed up. The reason american politics is the way it is because of your ****ing retarded two party system. Rather than having a political group with some good opinions and views that has to use its merit to beat other parties, Americans thought it would be great to only have two parties so that if you want to get elected, you can just smear the other team.
well, normally, I'd go with a more pragmatic choice. we nominate some one who is on quite often, knows the ropes of moding and knows and thing or two about html. bascially we go with stardard list or qualifications and willinness and whenever one needs to go or something, they jsut pass the torch to some one else. besides. its not like we break the rules of our own site....
If it is 'my' politics then you don't need to cuss about it cause it doesn't concern you. No need to get heated about something you aren't in. Saves you on stress in life. You know?

I wouldn't mind having another mod, but I don't really care one way or the other. Just don't ask me to do it.
My opinion on this matter is this: democratic process is a great thing. Nothing wrong with it. I think the best way to chose a moderator, for example, would be to ask people who they would want, recommend, etc. But unlike the American government, we aren't really faced with any... real... issues here. I mean, what is there to worry about? Besides single people being particularly assholish, there's really no real divisive issue I can see plaguing our site. Perhaps I'm not paying attention, but I don't really see a need to worry. I think a democratic decision-making process would be fine, popularity contest or no. It's the people that post and participate the most who have the biggest stake in this site's affairs, anyway.
Being a mod is a responsibility, not a privilege. Who here honestly wants the added stress?
In all honesty, Clany would have my vote anyway, because she is both practical and intelligent. She is an obvious, and willing, choice.
Look around you. Name one issue you would bring to a mods attention.

I'm in agreement with Mr Faust and from having been a mod for two or three highly active IMVU groups years ago i can assure you it is a stress filled job. Personally i seen no need to add another mod or change the current system in place and refer you to the saying "If it aint broke dont fix it"
If we went with a voting system it would be popularity voting and in turn the person who's might not be at fault takes the fall. Say a brand new member might gets annoyed or flamed by a older member who's taking a disliking to them and the new member complains and it goes to votes. Said new member might be dismissed beacuse people are friends with the older member and have voted in there favour rather than fairly and imparculy.
But like i said things are fine as they are. Besides how often is there any problems here?

I give everyone cookies. ^_^ I fully understand if people are interested in having another MOD. I also am constantly reading these posts and reading through everyones and anyones public posts to see for any animosity. When the situation arises that another MOD is needed I will not only make it publicly known but I will also be looking at many factors.
^_^ I pop in and out and RP everyone so and so but mostly I do my best to run a clean and fun loving ship that is as neutral as the grayest gray.
