A Roleplayer's Guide!

... I'm not trying to go grammar Nazi on people, but sometimes people are new to roleplay.  I'm going to be writing a guide to help them make a transition from probably chat roleplay to forum roleplay!

Chat Roleplays are usually very sentence-based, happening in live action, where as Forum Roleplays were not very much designed for live action, so more input is required to get satisfaction from them.  I'm not saying write multi-paragraph posts, I'm just saying the more you write the better a story can progress.

Rules of Transition:
1.  Do not use abbreviations: I.E. - "u" for "you", "l8" for "late", and "lol" at any point.  If you know someone who says, "Lol" on a constant basis in usual speech, please slap them for me.
2. Do not use asterisks or hypens to symbolize action: I.E.  *I walk to the store and buy milk*
3. Do use paragraph/essay format (Include periods, capitalization, grammar, mechanics, and third person view) You are not your character: Bad example: *I punch you in the face*  | Good Example: Luckas would attempt to dodge the thrown punch by ducking down, while simultaneously shoving his corresponding hand up at the elbow of the extended punch in an effort to grab it as he spun to bring his back against the assailant. | It can be considered rude if you do not put in the same effort as the person you are roleplaying with, and several times I've gotten angry at people who half-a their sentences, style, etc.  If someone shows you the courtesy and respect to formally type, it is only nice to respond the same way.
4. Know the difference of Their, There, and They're: Their - possessive form of They.  Example: Their cat took my fish.  | There: Describing the location of something. Example: There is a fish on my plate. | They're - contraction of "they" and "are". Example: They're going to get in trouble if they kick that panda in the testicles. | Nothing is cool about getting these mixed up.  It subtracts from the immersion.
5. (Newly added) Know the difference in you're and your - otherwise - Panda will effin' kill you. Your - possessive form of you. Example: Your English book is feeling lonely because you didn't read it and are making the Panda explain this.  | You're - contracted words of "you" and "are". Example: "You're annoying because you didn't pick up the effin' English book and made the Panda explain this."

Different Types of Roleplay and Intended Purposes
1.  Speed Roleplaying - Fastest typer has domination, the faster you can type correctly, the better fighter/player you are in this type. Usually used in live-action chats.
2.  Sentence Roleplaying - Turn-based roleplaying style in which one person types a sentence, sometimes descriptive, sometimes not, in which only a line of text is used.  Usually used in live-action chats and sometimes forums.
3. Descriptive Roleplaying - Turn-based roleplaying style in which can be sentence, semi-paragraph, paragraph, or even multi-paragraph depending on the amount of description used in your writing. Usually used in live-action chats and more frequently in forums.
4. Semi-Paragraph Roleplaying: Turn-based roleplaying style in which two or more sentences are typed for the purpose of roleplaying.  Sometimes used in live-action chats and quite frequently on forums.
5. Paragraph Roleplaying: Turn-based roleplaying style in which five or more sentences at a time are typed for the purpose of roleplaying.  Rarely used in live-action chats and very frequently occur on forums.
6. Multi-Paragraph Roleplaying: Turn-based roleplaying style that takes an obscenely long time to use, due to the fact three to four paragraphs are posted with several actions in steps are used in each paragraph, in return the responder must respond to each action individually.  EXTREMELY EXTREMELY Rare on live-action sites and quite rare on forums.
